Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, best known now as simply Sting,
grew up in Wallsend, England. While attending grammar school, Sumner would sneak into various concert venues, where he would
watch artists like Manfred Mann and Cream perform on stage. It was evident that Sumner, even at a young age, had a strong
passion for music. After attending college, Sumner became a teacher, but his work and his education didn't stop him from doing
what he loved best – playing music. He performed in various jazz bands in his spare time, and eventually he decided
to drop all of his other obligations and pursue music full time, which proved out to be well worth the risk. In 1977, Sting
teamed up with a few other musicians to form The Police.
For five years, The Police dominated the international rock
scene, cranking out one hit album after another and earning several Grammy Awards and Brit Awards. Eventually, however, Sting
decided that he wanted to pursue a solo career, so in 1983, Sting left The Police. For the next several decades, Sting enjoyed
immense success as a solo artist. He released one critically acclaimed album after another, and he never failed to put on
spectacular live shows for his eager fans. With multi-platinum albums and chart-topping hits in his repertoire, there is no
doubt that Sting has become a music icon. His legacy as both the lead singer of The Police and as a solo artist will never
be erased, and he has influenced more artists than he can even possibly know.
Sting, one of the most acclaimed and best-selling
artists of all time, always knows how to put on a dynamic live show. As a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, it's safe to
