Sting Background

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, best known now as simply Sting, grew up in Wallsend, England. While attending grammar school, Sumner would sneak into various concert venues, where he would watch artists like Manfred Mann and Cream perform on stage. It was evident that Sumner, even at a young age, had a strong passion for music. After attending college, Sumner became a teacher, but his work and his education didn't stop him from doing what he loved best – playing music. He performed in various jazz bands in his spare time, and eventually he decided to drop all of his other obligations and pursue music full time, which proved out to be well worth the risk. In 1977, Sting teamed up with a few other musicians to form The Police.

For five years, The Police dominated the international rock scene, cranking out one hit album after another and earning several Grammy Awards and Brit Awards. Eventually, however, Sting decided that he wanted to pursue a solo career, so in 1983, Sting left The Police. For the next several decades, Sting enjoyed immense success as a solo artist. He released one critically acclaimed album after another, and he never failed to put on spectacular live shows for his eager fans. With multi-platinum albums and chart-topping hits in his repertoire, there is no doubt that Sting has become a music icon. His legacy as both the lead singer of The Police and as a solo artist will never be erased, and he has influenced more artists than he can even possibly know.

Sting, one of the most acclaimed and best-selling artists of all time, always knows how to put on a dynamic live show. As a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, it's safe to say that Sting can truly rock out on stage, no matter where he performs. So when you have the opportunity to see this incredible rock star in action, don't let it pass you by! Grab your Sting concert tickets on StubHub before they all sell out!

Greatest Hits

With The Police, Sting released five phenomenal albums, which spawned massive rock hits like "Roxanne", "Message In a Bottle", "Fall Out", "Walking on the Moon", "Bring on the Night", and "Don't Stand So Close to Me". As a solo artist, Sting has been even more prolific, with 11 studio albums and 44 singles in his repertoire. Some of Sting's best solo tracks include songs like "Russians", "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free", "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You", "All For Love", "When We Dance", and "Desert Rose".

With so many smash hits in his repertoire, it shouldn't be a surprise that Sting always puts on a knockout show. You could witness it for yourself by grabbing your Sting tickets on StubHub today!

Trivia

Sting earned his stage name early on in his career. He wore a black and yellow striped sweater while performing once, giving him the appearance of a bee. His friends took to calling him Sting.
