Surfer Blood Schedule
Although none of the members are surfers, indie and surf rockers, Surfer Blood, have already
made some waves on the music scene with singles like "Miranda," "Swim," "Take It" and more. In just five years, they have
also earned career highlights like opening for the Pixies in 2011 and making NPR's Song of the Day with "I'm Not Ready" on
Dec. 8, 2011. In a 2010 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Surfer Blood credited Jesus Lizard and Motown as inspirations
but frontman John Paul Pitts said, "I was listening to mostly Pavement, Bedhead, Yo La Tengo. And that's a huge part of what
influenced the way I write songs and the way I play guitar." After crafting their first album, Surfer Blood road-tested their
music and set out for the CMJ Music Festival. Pitts said, "We did 13 shows over the course of seven days at CMJ. I don't understand
the point of playing once and just hanging out all week. It got us a lot of attention. I mean, otherwise we wouldn't have
driven over 20 hours to get there."
