Surfer Blood tickets - Surfer Blood Tour

Surfer Blood Schedule

Although none of the members are surfers, indie and surf rockers, Surfer Blood, have already made some waves on the music scene with singles like "Miranda," "Swim," "Take It" and more. In just five years, they have also earned career highlights like opening for the Pixies in 2011 and making NPR's Song of the Day with "I'm Not Ready" on Dec. 8, 2011. In a 2010 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Surfer Blood credited Jesus Lizard and Motown as inspirations but frontman John Paul Pitts said, "I was listening to mostly Pavement, Bedhead, Yo La Tengo. And that's a huge part of what influenced the way I write songs and the way I play guitar." After crafting their first album, Surfer Blood road-tested their music and set out for the CMJ Music Festival. Pitts said, "We did 13 shows over the course of seven days at CMJ. I don't understand the point of playing once and just hanging out all week. It got us a lot of attention. I mean, otherwise we wouldn't have driven over 20 hours to get there."

The best way to experience the music of this group is by catching a Surfer Blood show at top-notch venues like The Sinclair in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, Surfer Blood is currently comprised of Thomas Fekete (guitar/supporting vocals); John Paul Pitts (guitar/lead vocals); Tyler Schwarz (drums); and Kevin Williams (bass guitar/supporting vocals). The group were officially formed in the spring of 2009. Surfer Blood didn't waste any time hitting the road as well as cutting tracks in Pitts' apartment. They initially dedicated close to half a year to completing four tours. Surfer Blood then sparked some buzz following a performance at Bruar Falls in Brooklyn. For the remainder of 2009, they shared stages with Japandroids and Art Brut. Astro Coast, their first album, arrived in early 2010. They issued Tarot Classics EP the following year. In early 2012, Surfer Blood performed live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, showcasing their tune, "Miranda." Surfer Blood's most recent release is Pythons, which dropped in 2013.
