Switchfoot was formed in San Diego in 1996, and they began like many other bands - with a lot of struggle. They began to produce records for a small label in 1997, and their third release went gold. This led to a recording contract with Columbia Records, and they have released three additional albums under this label, two of which have gone gold and one that went platinum. The band's following continues to grow under their major label, and they always deliver a live performance to remember.
