Symphony in the Glen Background

In 1993, renowned film and TV composer, Arthur B. Rubinstein, decided that classical music needed a stronger foothold in Los Angeles, so he founded Symphony in the Glen (SIG). His goal was to help foster a love for classical music while also bringing communities together in a welcoming and vibrant environment, a goal which he not only achieved, but also surpassed. The first Symphony in the Glen was held in 1994 at Griffith Park, and it attracted a diverse group of people from all over the community who deemed it an instant success.

Since that very first concert, the professional orchestra, helmed by Maestro Rubinstein, has performed numerous concerts in Griffith Park and around Los Angeles for over two decades. The orchestra has performed free summer concerts, benefit concerts, and symphony concerts. Their first symphony concert took place in 2009 at the lawn of the Griffith Observatory, and this fabulous gala was so extraordinarily successful that it was held again two days later. Each year, SIG aims to provide a wonderful outing for families and groups of all ages, as Rubinstein believes that music is one of the best ways to bring families together. Since its inception in 1993, Symphony in the Glen has performed over 42 free concerts and over 200 various classical tunes, reaching over 60,000 people in Los Angeles over the years. Now, you can bring your family to one of these incredible Symphony in the Glen concerts for one of their biggest shows yet!
