Since 1994, the professional orchestra, led by Maestro Rubinstein, has performed landmark concerts in Griffith Park. When
a fire destroyed over 800 acres of the park area in 2007, the program sponsored Out of the Ashes, as a benefit concert
for Griffith Park recovery. Later on, the Fantastic Creatures concert series, partnered with the Greater Los Angeles
Zoo Association to Los Angeles school children to the animal kingdom as portrayed in symphonic music. The field trip concluded
with a zoo tour of the actual animals. Then in 2009, Symphony In The Glen presented the first ever symphony concert on the
front lawn of Griffith Observatory for the Observatory's Cosmic Conjunction, a celebration of the International Year

The main mission of Symphony In The Glen Free Concert program is to provide excellent classical music performances in an

Maestro Rubinstein often composes new works to complement his thematic programming. His diverse program themes include:
the resonance between the cosmos and a violin bow in String Theory; entering the profoundly silly world of Commedia
Dell'arte in Masquerades and Other Serious Fun; and toured The American Landscape with the music of Aaron Copland,
Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. In addition to these teachings, Symphony In The Glen has been honored to present Peter
and the Wolf with narrators such as Charlton Heston, Marion Ross, Elizabeth Peña, Ed Asner, and the legendary Stan Freberg.
