The Big East Conference is chocked full of teams who fight tooth and nail for the top spot in the football rankings. The
Syracuse Orange football team routinely fights for a top spot. In 2010, the Orange ended ranked fourth in the Big East Conference
with a record of 8-5. The 2011 season could see the jumping to the top spot.
The history of Syracuse Orange football begins in 1889 with the team's first intercollegiate game. Since then, the legacy
of the Orange has developed, including the legend of #44. The number 44 jersey is now retired, but before it was retired,
it was a sort-of good luck charm. Three famed All-Americans wore the number, Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little. The
tradition continues with this season of NCAA
football.
The Syracuse Orange football team calls the
Carrier Dome home, as does the school's basketball and lacrosse teams. For football games, the Carrier Dome is known as
a hostile environment for visiting teams, and the Orange has a home record to prove it. The Carrier Dome opened in 1980 and
features a capacity of 52,000.
Over the years, many players from Syracuse have gone on to become famed players in the National Football League. Because
of this, getting sports tickets to see the Orange
means seeing players with a possibility of further greatness. Gather your fellow football fans together and head out to see
one of the games this season.
