Talladega SuperSpeedway History
Talladega SuperSpeedway is a motorsports complex located in Lincoln, Alabama. Construction
on this venue began in 1968 and it opened as Alabama International Motor Speedway the following year. The track at this speedway
was unlike any other in the country at the time, and the driver's that participated in the first race did not like the new
surface. For a time, replacement drivers were needed to races as this venue. Since then this venue has hosted multiple Sprint
Cup series races per year, and seen some of the most dramatic finishes in the sport of racing. Legendary driver Dale Earnhardt
holds the record for the most wins at this racetrack, as The Intimidator racked up 10 total wins during his illustrious career.
Earnhardt's son, Dale Earnhardt Jr. holds the record for the most consecutive wins at Talladega with four. Earnhardst Sr.
amassed an amazing 27 Top 10 finishes as this track, and finished in the Top 5 on 23 occasions. Dave Marcis completed nearly
10,000 laps during his career at Talladega. Every year this venue adds to its history as it hosts some of the top races of

of Alabama, seated in Talladega County. Lincoln is a small city, with a population of approximately 6,000 people. Talladega
Speedway is located just outside of the city, and a large Honda manufacturing plant is located within the city limits. People
flock to the area every year for the Talladega 500, one of the biggest NASCAR races on the Sprint Cu circuit.
