Tame Impala Background
Tame Impala is comprised of rockers
Kevin Parker, Dominic Simper, Jay Watson, Cam Avery, and Julien Barbagallo, but the band's roots can be found in Parker's
bedroom. In his home in Perth, Parker started Tame Impala as a small home-recording project, and after he had generated some
serious buzz over his tracks on Myspace, record labels started to become interested. Parker knew that he needed to bring his
recording to a live stage, and that meant that he needed a full band to perform the songs, so he recruited Dominic Simper
and Jay Watson, and the trio started to perform Tame Impala's songs at local gigs. The group quickly scored a record deal
with Modular Recordings.
Before they knew it, Tame Impala was scoring spot after spot on the Australian music charts.
Some of their major breakthrough singles include "Half Full Glass of Wine", "Skeleton Tiger", and "Desire Be, Desire Go",
all of which received major radio airplay and helped the group's debut EP rocket to the number one spot on the Australian
Independent Record Labels chart. After ascending to fame so quickly, Tame Impala scored touring slots with bands like the
Black Keys, MGMT, and You Am I.
Tame Impala also earned high praises from music critics and media publications, and
Pitchfork even named their album Innerspeaker (2010) the Best New Music. This beloved psyche rock outfit has also performed
at some of the biggest music festivals in the world, such as Coachella, Sasquatch, Reading, V Festival, and more. Tame Impala
also recently earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 2013. There's no doubt that Tame Impala is currently
one of the biggest and most talked about bands in the entire world, and their influence can be felt whenever you listen to
