Tampa Bay Buccaneers Road Schedule in 2014

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are ready to sail around the country this season as they hit the road for some great matchups against top National Football League teams. The Bucs had a bit of an odd season in 2013, but things are looking up for this franchise. The 2013 season started in turmoil with quarterback Josh Freeman seeming displeased, and the team eventually benched and traded the former first-round pick. Rookie Mike Glennon took over and looked quite good for a rookie quarterback. The Bucs started the season off with eight straight losses, but then rattled off three straight victories thanks to some solid play from their rookie signal caller. The Bucs hired a new head coach in Lovie Smith in the offseason to help turn the organization around, and many of their offseason moves have been praised by experts. The team will have to win some tough games on the road this season if they're going to contend for a spot in the postseason, but it appears that Tampa Bay could have the talent to make that happen in 2014.

The Bucs will have to travel to face their divisional opponents this year, as they always do, and their biggest matchup in that regard could be when they head to Charlotte, NC to take on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers won the NFC South last season thanks to their stellar defense, and the Bucs are going to have to bring their best if they're going to take down Cam Newton and company. The New Orleans Saints, another divisional foe, made the playoffs in 2013 as well, and should be in the running for the NFC South title yet again. Victories against these teams this season would put the Bucs in position to contend for the top spot in the division standings.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team Info

The Tampa Bay Bucs got off to a rough start last season, losing their first eight games of the 2013 campaign. However, the team didn't look as bad as one would expect an 0-8 team to look, which was confirmed when the Bucs rattled off three consecutive victories following that 0-8 start. The team benched and eventually traded quarterback Josh Freeman, which paved the way for rookie signal caller Mike Glennon to take the reins of the offense. Glennon surprised a lot of onlookers with his poised presence in the pocket, and seemed to develop a nice rapport with star wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Glennon looks like the quarterback of the future as well as the present, something that can give Bucs fans a lot of hope moving forward. Defensively, this team looked much better in the second half of the season, a trend the Bucs are hoping to carry into 2014. With new head coach Lovie Smith, the Bucs are poised for a big turnaround this season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Trivia

The Tampa Bay Bucs won their only Super Bowl under the tutelage of head coach Jon Gruden. How did Gruden become the coach of the Bucs?

The answer is that Tampa Bay traded for Gruden the year prior to winning the Super Bowl. It turned out to be a fantastic move, as Gruden was acquired from the same Raiders team that the Bucs would go on to beat in the Super Bowl. Gruden's knowledge of the Raiders played a key part in the Tampa Bay win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers History

The organization joined the league in 1976 and experienced a lot of tough years early in the team's history. However, things turned around eventually with the hiring of head coach Tony Dungy, who turned the Tampa Bay defense into one of the best in the league.
