TCU Horned Frogs History
Located in Fort Worth, Texas, Texas Christian University has a long history of successful
sporting programs in many of the school's 18 varsity sports. The Horned Frogs began as a member of the original Texas Intercollegiate
Athletic Association from 1914-1920. This group of Division I colleges from Texas would eventually become the Southwest Conference,
one of the most consistent conferences until it disbanded in 1996. Texas Christian University was a member of the Southwest
Conference from 1923 until the end of its run, then joining the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The TCU Horned Frogs enjoyed
a period of great success in football during their days in the Southwest Conference, winning National Championships in 1935
and 1938. The team was led by legendary head coach Dutch Meyer, who coached the Horned Frogs from 1934 to 1952, leading the
team to an undefeated season in 1938. The magical 1938 season was a masterpiece of Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Davey
O'Brien, still TCU's only player to win the prestigious award. The Horned Frogs also have achieved great success in baseball,
where TCU has been to nine NCAA Baseball Tournaments, and every season from 2004-2012. No matter what your favorite sport
