About Teen Choice Awards

The Teen Choice Awards have been going strong since it original aired in 1999. The idea is that the voice of a generation would make the choices for which celebrity wins the award. It also is an encouraging way to teach about the importance of have a choice and a voice through voting. It was targeted to the teens who were becoming too old for Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards and slightly too young for the MTV awards, or other award shows out there like the Academy Awards. Much like the other award shows, accolades are given to a selection of performers in both the entertainment and athletic industries. While it is aired on television, the best way to experience it is live and in person. There is often a delay on television that cuts out some of the gems that only Twitter followers may discover after it took place. Clearly, it is better to be there than to tweet first or share your Teen Choice selfie on Instagram. In 2008, Fox and the producers allowed Teens to cast their vote on a website which led to a turn out of 30 million teens. The next year, the number of voters reached 83 million. It is quite a special event Fox is putting on here.

In addition to the Teen Wolf host and the amazing performances lined up, the Teen Choice Awards are expecting to see a large number of celebrities. To name drop just a few, the Awards expect to see Jason Derulo, Cody Simpson, Rixton, Megan Fox, Magic!, Kevin Hart, Kardashian & Jenner sisters, Josh Hutcherson and even the cast of Pretty Little Liars.

The Teen Choice Awards continues to find new an interesting ways to get you to have a voice in who not only wins awards, but also to be a part of more aspects of the Teen Choice Awards and social media is one way it has been successful in doing so. On Twitter, the Teen Choice Awards created the handle "teenchoicegirl," who is a real teenager given a job as an intern to provide updates about what is happening with celebrities and even relays a bit of gossip here and there for fun. The Teen Choice Awards is connecting the "every" teenager with the celebrity that with the birth of social media, we are learning isn't that far of a stretch. The early strategy to empower the teens to vote was hugely important in the success of the organization. After all, it is "your choice and your voice" that gives the Teen Choice Awards its power to get the most fun and entertaining celebrities in one place at the same time.

Teen Choice Awards Trivia

The Teen Choice awards has been schedule for the UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, but after a water main broke on Sunset Boulevard in the upscale neighborhood in West Hollywood, much of the neighborhood was under water. Unfortunately, the Pauley Pavilion was once of the structures damaged by the massive flooding. Nevertheless, as the show will not go on as scheduled, even if it is at the backup facility that has not yet been released. While all of the water has been taken out of UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, it is a short deadline to ensure that the damages are fixed before this year's Teen Choice Awards. The good news is that the building was not structural damaged, so it isn't entirely a concern of safety. Stay tuned to see if Plan B location is put into action. Regardless, you won't want to miss the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. If another waterline breaks, at least the Award winners will be equipped with custom-made surfboards! Get your tickets now!
