Tennessee Volunteers Baseball Schedule

The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team is ready to hit the diamond this season and take on all comers that dare step onto the field at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols are ready to climb to the top of the SEC standings in 2014, but they know it's going to take some improvement from last season to get the job done. The Vols are coming off a 2013 season in which they did not perform all that well, but things are looking up for this squad this season. With a bevy of tough matchups on their home schedule, the Vols will have plenty of chances to prove that they're again an elite team in the SEC.

The Volunteers will host the Kentucky Wildcats for a three-game set in early May that could prove to be a huge momentum boost for the Tennessee players if they can get the job done on the field. The Wildcats are sure to be a tough matchup, but it takes that kind of challenge for a team to show they're for real. The Vols will also take on the Florida Gators three times in May for a three-game series that is sure to be great to see in person.

Tennessee Volunteers Baseball History

The Tennessee Volunteers baseball program goes back more than 100 years, as the Vols first took to the diamond way back in 1897. Since then this team has been fighting for victories against all of the top teams in college baseball, making for some fantastic memories for Tennessee players and fans along the way. This team has made multiple appearances in the NCAA Tournament, as well as the College World Series. The team even made it all the way to the final series in 1951 before being relegated as the runner-up that season. They have won their conference tournament on three occasions, and been named champions of the conference thrice as well. Over the years, the Tennessee Volunteers have seen plenty of great moments on the diamond, and fans are sure to be treated to quite a few more this season. Their history has had some great moments, not to mention quite a few great players that have played for the team. The 2006 number one MLB draft pick, Luke Hochevar, came out of Tennessee, and other pros like Todd Helton have also donned Volunteers uniforms.

Fan Experience

Baseball is known as America's pastime, and a lot of sports fans love to attend baseball games live and in person for that hint of nostalgia that comes with being there in the stands when the players take to the diamond. While Major League Baseball is great, college baseball is also incredible to see in person. The best amateur baseball players in the United States travel all over the nation each and every year to face off with other top programs. Many of these players will be drafted into the pros, so the talent level you can see at a college baseball game is very high. Sure, there is no crack of the bat since the bats are aluminum in college, but the spirit of the game remains the same. These players are willing to leave it all out on the baseball field in order to secure the victory, and that is truly inspiring to see in person. The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team will be hitting the field with victory on their minds this season, and you can see all of the action unfold when you head out to a game.
