Texas Rangers tickets - Rangers tickets

Rangers Update – Week of July 4

It hasn't all worked out exactly as the Rangers hoped heading into the regular season, but the Rangers have also put together some exciting stretches and fans are eager to see them get right back in the mix in the A.L. West. It's not going to be easy with the Mariners, Angels and the A's all putting together strong performances in the first half, but the Rangers have more than enough talent to make a major run and they're looking to head into the All-Star break on a high note. Even though June wasn't the best month in Rangers' history, the beauty of the MLB season is that there is still plenty of baseball left to be played.

One of the brightest points of the season so far, of course, has been Adrian Beltre, who continues to turn in one great season at the plate after another. Beltre has consistently been one of the very top third basemen in the league since he came over from Boston in 2011, though this year is looking like it could end up being one of the best in his career. Though Beltre missed some games early in the season, he had a red-hot May and then went bananas in June, hitting.392 and driving in 22 runs for the month.

It hasn't all been about Beltre, however, as the Rangers also have one of the very best starting pitchers in the entire league: Yu Darvish. There was lots of speculation surrounding Darvish when he first came to Texas, but he's been nothing short of amazing. This season, Darvish is back near the top of the American League in most major pitching categories, helping give the Rangers a chance to win every time that he takes to the hill. With plenty of big games on the schedule for the second half of the season and the Rangers looking to get back into the mix, anything can happen from here.

2014 Texas Rangers Schedule

With another team that is known to light up the scoreboard and change the dynamic of a big game in a real hurry, the Rangers definitely won't go quietly in the A.L. West this season as they look to swing their way all the back to the postseason. The Rangers finished second in the division in 2013, and were unable to make it to the postseason, but this team plans for things to go much differently in 2014. The Rangers have a ton of fantastic home matchups on their schedule this year, and Rangers fans will flock to Globe Life Park in Arlington to see this ball club hit the diamond and play their hardest. But even though Global Life Park in Arlington is obviously the place to be if you're a Rangers fan, don't forget about the 81 road games a year, as you have plenty of opportunities to hit the road and make sure that you don't miss a second of the action.

Of course, it starts with dominating their divisional foes in the super competitive A.L. West. The Rangers will surely be looking forward to all their matchups with the Oakland Athletics this season, as the As' were able to outdo Texas in 2013 and emerge with the A.L. West championship. The Rangers had made the postseason several years in a row before last year, so this team is definitely look to get back to the top of the division, and the road to the A.L. West title goes through Oakland now. Oakland may not have a star-studded roster, but it's a well-rounded group of players that all know how to play as a team. Texas has enough talent to defeat the Athletics, but they're going to have to play hard every time the A's come to Oakland.

The Los Angeles Angels are another squad that could pose a threat to Texas in the A.L. West, so the Rangers are sure to ratchet things up a notch or two when the Angels come into town. This Angels ball club boasts some big name sluggers that strike fear into the hearts of many a Major League pitcher, but the Rangers are familiar with this team and know they can be beat. Matchups against the Angels will surely be well-attended at Rangers Stadium in 2014. From intense home matchups to big away games against divisional rivals, the Rangers have another schedule bursting with opportunities for Rangers fans.

Texas Rangers Team Info

The Texas Rangers play in the American League West division of Major League Baseball, a division that also features the Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros. The Rangers came up just a bit short of winning the division in 2013, as they saw the Oakland A's finish 5.5 games ahead of them in the standings. But this Texas team is stocked with talent and should be back in the hunt for the division title in 2014. With some serious sluggers and a pitching staff that has a true ace headlining the bunch, the Rangers could be back in the World Series in no time at all. It all starts with Prince Fielder and Adrian Beltre in the heart of the order, though they can also dice up some opposing lineups thanks to Yu Darvish and Tanner Scheppers. That is most definitely the goal for this Ranger team, one that has proven that they're not afraid to make the big moves that put teams over the top and into the pennant conversation.

The MLB Experience

Watching a baseball game live and in person from your very own spot in the stadium is the best way to do it. Sure, watching the game on TV can be decent, but it simply doesn't compare to seeing the game from the stands. People show up in droves to every big game each and every season, and that's not about to change any time soon. When the Rangers hit the field this season, you'll be able to see why it's worth going to the game instead of sitting at home, where you just can't duplicating the experience of soaking up the vibes of your fellow fans for all the crucial moments of a highly anticipated ballgame featuring the Rangers.

Texas Rangers History

The Texas Rangers were originally founded as the Washington Senators in 1961. The team moved to Texas and was renamed the Rangers in 1972. The Rangers won their first American League Pennant and made their first World Series appearance in 2010, and followed that up by doing the same again in 2011. A World Series Championship continues to elude this franchise, however, though they've definitely had their fair share of all-time greats, including Nolan Ryan, Alex Rodriguez, Ivan Rodriguez and many, many more.

Texas Rangers Trivia

How many Gold Gloves did Ivan Rodriguez win during his career?

The answer is 13, which is a ridiculous number for a position generally considered difficult to have any longevity at all. Rodriguez went down as one of the best catchers in the history of the game, going to 14 different All-Star games and also winning seven Silver Slugger Awards.

The Fans

When the Texas Rangers hit the field and throw out the first pitch, the roar of the crowd will overtake the entire stadium and urge the team on to victory. The fans of this team are about as loyal as you'll find in Major League Baseball because they know the team is always giving 100 percent in their quest for a win. Make sure to get out to the stands this season to join these fans in rooting for the Rangers, as Global Life Park at Arlington is sure to be absolutely humming with enthusiasm and passion for the home town team.

But even though home games are great, there are lots of other options out there, and Rangers fans are known to travel with the team and show some big-time support on the road. Come out and sport your gear during an away game and you'll see the Rangers from a whole new level, as every fan deserves to see a big road game at some point.
