Take a look at the schedule to see where and when is the best time to catch this band as it tours the United States, hitting up places like Bimbos 365 Club in San Francisco, California; Highline Ballroom in New York, New York; and Howard Theatre in Washington, District Columbia.

About Asteroids Galaxy Tour

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour formed in 2007 in Copenhagen. The band is known for its re-envisioning of the late 1960s sounds of Burt Bacharach, Sly Stone and Barbarella. Lars Iversen (multiple instruments) and Mette Lindberg (vocalist) formed Asteroids Galaxy Tour. The twosome created a demo, which freshly pressed landed in the hands of Amy Winehouse. Winehouse requested that the Asteroids play an opening gig for her during a tour on which she played Copenhagen. Before Mette and Lars started Asteroids Galaxy Tour, the two of them were aware of one another in the local music scene around Copenhagen. The two had already been playing in a band together for a short time. After about eight years had passed after playing in a band together, Lars reached out to Mette to see if she was interested in working together. He had played for her some music that he had produced, which she found impressive.

Asteroids Galaxy Tour Breakthrough

The breakthrough for the Asteroids Galaxy Tour was quite fast in comparison to other bands. The Asteroids Galaxy Tour can thank the late Amy Winehouse for helping to give it the hand up to breakthrough by asking that they play an opening set for her. Interestingly, though, Mette never actually met Amy Winehouse in spite of the singer's interest in Asteroids and having opened for her. It wasn't long before Asteroids Galaxy Tour was signed to Universal Records and released a debut single called "The Sun Ain't Shining No More." The Asteroids Galaxy Tour then started working on its debut album. During the live shows, the band expanded its performance by adding a six-piece to the line up. One of the obvious breakthrough moments for the Asteroids Galaxy Tour is when Apple's iPod Touch MP3 player was advertised in a commercial that placed one of the band's pop songs, "Around the Bend." The album Fruit was released in 2009 on their own label, Small Giants, and was followed by Out of Frequency in 2012. No doubt the help of Amy Winehouse, followed by the placement on an Apple commercial helped the band to breakthrough. The Apple commercial was one of the key ways in which the band found notoriety among an international audience outside of Denmark. Asteroids Galaxy Tour's "Around the Bend" was also featured on Gossip Girl, CSI Miami and Chuck. It was heard during the documentary about Anna Wintour, the Editor-in Chief of Vogue Magazine. That documentary was called "The September Issue." Another one of the band's songs, The Golden Age was placed on a Heineken advertisement. After Amy Winehouse choice Asteroid Galaxy Tour to open for her, Katy Perry followed suit in 2009. During 2009, the Asteroids Galaxy Tour played across the United States and Europe.

Asteroids Galaxy Tour Trivia

During an interview with Songfacts, Lars Iverson explained how the song, "Around the Bend" was placed on the iPod Touch commercial, "We have this company working for us in the United States called Sync, and they got in touch with Apple. I think they had this meeting with Steve Jobs himself, and he picked that song out of the bunch and said, 'This is it, this is the new track for the iPod Touch.' Apparently, he just loved that track, be we never saw it as one of our singles. We have some other songs that we thought would be great singles, and that would work cool on the radio, but he really loved that song."

Asteroids Galaxy Tour Live Show Experience

The live show experience at Asteroids Galaxy Tour concert is simply fun. The music is quirky pop with a lot of soul and attitude with a Copenhagen twist. The live show is often dictated by the music that is performed on state and in the case of Asteroids Galaxy Tour, it contains larger than life musical arrangements with hip vocals. The live shows are upbeat with a psychedelic feel with all things shiny and shimmery. According to Mette, "We just want to give people a good… what do you say? A good time! A moment that can never be put down with your iPhone, you know." In response to a live show, Mette noted, "You can't get this down and it will never be the same again—this is a once in a lifetime moment. That's why you go to a live show!"
