Picking up where punk left off, The Cure debuted in 1979, earning attention for their Albert Camus-inspired song “Killing An Arab.” In time, they would develop the trademark gloom and doom of goth-rock and become an alt-rock favorite. With Robert Smith’s pained lyrics, lovelorn listeners found their band. By the end of the ‘80s, they had left goth behind them for sunnier, but no less poignant, pop.
Hits like “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Pictures of You,” and “A Forest” have made this English rock band favorites with new and old fans alike for years. The Cure tickets are sure to go fast among them. The band is currently releasing four singles on the 13th of each month starting May 13. This will lead up to their 13th studio album, due out Sept. 13.
