About The Dan Band
The Dan Band is the brainchild of front man, musician and comedian extraordinaire
Dan Finnerty. Lead vocals and the definitive face of the band, Dan is a New York native who got his start in the music business
with a leading role in Stomp, an off-Broadway musical that would be a breakout hit and the definitive beginning to Finnerty's
meteoric performance career. He would eventually breakout into comedy and performance, mixing his love of music with his finely
tuned funny bone to pioneer himself as the definitive musical funny man of the 2000s. Finnerty would become a key player in
many of the major comedy milestones of the decade, and has since ingrained himself as one of the pop culture icons of a generation.
Dan Band has been a consistent fixture on the Los Angeles comedy and music scene for years, though their claim to fame would
expand beyond regional limitations when they began to make Dan Band cameos in the early 2000s. The band's first major appearance
would be in Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez's The Wedding Planner, where the band would be featured prominently on
the movie's soundtrack. Building on his fame, the band then would make an appearance in cult comedy hit Old School, starring
Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson, where the Dan Band played dirty mouthed renditions of wedding song classics, marking one of
the most memorable scenes of one of 2000's most classic comedies.
The band's next big appearance would be in Ben Stiller's
Starsky & Hutch, where the Dan Band donned their yamakas and performed as a foul mouthed Bar Mitzvah band. With the Dan
Band in high demand, they would release their first official live album, successfully venturing into the commercial music
scene on their own as their Los Angeles live show continued to sell out tickets night after night. The band's most recent
foray into entertainment would be with an appearance on the comedy franchise juggernaut The Hangover, reprising their roles
as wedding singers in quite possibly the number one comedy release of the decade.
principal record would be 2005's The Dan Band Live, a lively capture of all the fame, majesty, and good times of the Dan Band's
vaunted live show. The album would fare well with AllMusic, clocking in at forty six minutes of pure comedic genius that includes
covers of such pop hits as "Genie in a Bottle", "Milkshake", Shakira's "Que Sera, Sera", and "Hips Don't Lie".
of work that would push the Dan Band into the television spotlight would be the special Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band: I
Am Woman. The special would be produced by Steven Spielberg and featured comedic renditions of almost entirely female lead
The band would get into the Christmas spirit in 2007 with a one time release of Ho: A Dan Band Xmas. The
album would be the band's most substantial venture into original music, and was a huge success that featured special appearances
from a slew of celebrities, including Tenacious D, The Brady Bunch, Meg Ryan, Neil PAtrick Harris, and Macy Gray, amongst
The band's best known single is perhaps their rendition of Bonnie Taylor's "Total
Eclipse of the Heart". The track, which is famously performed during Old School's Wedding Scene with a fair sprinkling of
profanity, became an overnight sensation and has been all time karaoke favorite ever since.
The band's appearance on
The Hangover would feature two special tracks, one of 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" and Irene Cara's "Fame". Their version of "Candy
Shop" as well as their rendition of the Styx single "Lady" are perhaps the band's second and third most well known covers.
