About The Dan Band
Band is named after creator Dan Finnerty, well known comedian and actor. It also includes the whole Dan Band troupe, which
is constantly shifting and changing but includes up and coming performers, actors, and comedians: Dan Finnerty, Gene Reed,
John Kozeluh, Matt Pollock, Marc Strommer, Einar Pedersen, Byron Thames, Ivan Delaforce and Aurelien Budynek.
was born in Rochester, New York and would eventually attend Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. He started his performing
career in the off-Broadway hit Stomp. He would continue acting and performing, eventually picking up roles in some of cinema's
most classic hits. His roles include a wedding singer in the Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson cult classic Old School, where Dan
gives an emotional and heartfelt rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart", peppered in with some foul mouthed vocabulary
that makes it one of the most memorable scenes of the film.
Dan would strike again in a similar role in Ben Stiller's
and Owen Wilson's Starsky & Hutch, singing every dirty and suggestive song a young boy entering boyhood needs to hear
as the musical entertainment at a bat mitzvah. Dan's role as the dirty wedding singer would be cemented and finalized when
he again incorporated his mischievous role in the Hangover, this time crooning to the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Bradley
Cooper, and Ed Helms.
Dan would make other breaks for television including his own one hour special directed by Steven
Spielberg, featuring the Dan Band, titled "Dan Finnerty & The Dan Band: I Am Woman", which would then land him another
gig working with Spielberg in The Terminal (starring Tom Hanks).
The Dan Band has performed across cable television
as well, with a laundry list of appearances including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Pajama Party, Last Comic Standing, The Tonight
Show With Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, and The Jay Leno Show.
The Dan Band has had numerous hits, both independently and on various soundtracks. They've had tracks on The Wedding
Planner soundtrack, Old School soundtrack, Starsky & Hutch soundtrack, and The Hangover Soundtrack.
Their most well
known work is The Dan Band Live, their first full length debut album. Their most memorable hit off the album was their explicit
cover of Bonnie Taylor's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". If you listen closely, you can hear The Dan Band's rendition being
performed at karaoke bars all over North America, Europe, and east Asia. The band also experimented with their own versions
of "Lady" by Styx, "Milkshake" by Kelis, and "Mickey" by Tony Basil.
Since the release of their full length, the album
has been shredding the Los Angeles nightlife scene, bringing incrowds night after night in what Entertainment Weekly has called
'the hottest ticket in town'.
Dan Finnerty is featured mostly in the background in the scenes where
he is a wedding singer. His songs typically interrupt the flow of conversation as Dan drops obscene language and expressive
language at a wedding and at a bat mitzvah.
After working with Steven Spielberg in a The Dan Band special, Dan scored
a role in Spielberg's next project The Terminal. Dan was finally able to escape being typecast as a wedding singer.
The Dan Band Concert Experience
Be sure to fully empty your bladder before sitting down for The Dan Band's comedy
musical extravaganza. You're about to experience a solid few hours of nonstop laughter where you won't be able to hold back
the tears (or other fluids, if you didn't listen to me and empty your bladder first). Join Dan and his troupe as they take
you on a musical journey ranging from classic singalongs you all know - including the ever famous "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
- to their own material including their Christmas special songs "Ho, Ho, Ho", "Merry Christmakwanzakah", and "Please Don't
Bomb Nobody This Holiday".
Singing along, clapping, and in some cases even dancing are highly encouraged, as The Dan
Band presents an interactive experience that goes beyond the basics of a comedian talking about himself for 45 minutes before
walking off stage. If you're very luck you'll get one of The Dan Band's very many celebrity guest vocalists on stage with
them - including Sheryl Crow, Tenacious D, Neil Patrick Harris, or The Pussycat Dolls. Whoever shows up, you'll walk away
with your face sore for a week and constant stitch in your stomach.
