The Duhks Tour
If there's one thing that's for sure it's that Canadians really know how to make good music. The
group began what was labelled as a "semi-hiatus" back in 2010, slowing down their rapid pace of shows to a steady stream of
live performances every now and then, something that continues to this day. This is understandable as the group is hard at
work on a new album, so you may just get lucky enough to hear some new material if you end up making it out to one of their
upcoming shows! Lots of shows or few shows, it doesn't matter as long as they keep bringing their music to the stage as often
as possible to share their beautiful music with loyal fans across the country. Slow and steady wins the race, so make sure
that you're a winner by getting the tickets that you need from StubHub to make it to the show!
About The Band
from Winnipeg, Canada, The Duhks formed in 2002 when a slew of incredibly talented musicians came together to make good music,
resulting in their self-released debut album, "Your Daughters and Your Sons". The album was a great success, drawing the attention
of Sugar Hill Records from South Carolina to sign the band and re-release their album in the states. They have become famous
throughout the years for their stellar musical work that blends a cavalcade of genres such as Irish dance, country, soul,
and others with their primary feel of folk music. Their sophomore effort came to be the self-titled album released in 2005,
gaining them ever more fame. They have since released two more albums, "Migrations" and "Fast Paced World" in 2006 and 2008
respectively. They have gained a variety of awards over the years for their work, receiving numerous JUNO awards and nominations
for multiple albums.
While each of the four albums that The Duhks released were
amazingly refreshing and talented works, all of which have received awards or at least been nominated, the band first came
to prominence with their debut album, "Your Daughters and Your Sons". This is the album that first brought the group to the
attention of a major label, which in turn re-released their album in the states, growing their audience substantially. This
is likely their breakthrough album, but the song "Heaven's My Home" from their 2006 album, "Migrations", was nominated for
a Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Country Performance By A Duo or Group With a Vocal. And while they were only nominated for
the Grammy, it was just another step in growing their audience and sharing their music for even more people to hear.
The Duhks Trivia
After spending years on the road through their extensive tours, The Duhks finally decided to
take a stand and to try and do something about how people live and affect the environment. It was in 2007 that the Duhks started
their Sustainability Project in an effort to raise public awareness of the decline of the ecological climate and things that
people can do to help out in any small way. Speaking to both bands and the public as a while, The Duhks try to lead by example
in an effort to help incite any kind of change in how we live our lives and how it affects the planet we live on. They urged
people to attempt to try and live more economically viable lives, as well as to try and live a lifestyle that is ecologically
sustainable. In these efforts the group set up a website and spoke publicly to encourage people to be as green as possible
by making small changes such as eating organic food, using biodiesel fuel, or even using more green "earth-friendly" cosmetics.
Taking a stand for more than just music, The Duhks are doing what they can to help the planet.
