Hannah Glawari has quite a fortune, and so long as she stays in her little town, the villagers can reap the benefits of that wealth as well. But if she can't marry, then she'll leave. Thus begins an epic farce in which the town folk conspire in her favor, trying desperately to find the woman someone suitable to settle down with (and to keep her money local).
