The Prom isn't just a dance, it's also the emo indie pop outfit based in Omaha, Nebraska and lead by pianist James Mendenhall. A veteran musician in the local indie roots rock scene, Menderhall recruited David Broecker and studio engineer Joel Brown to form a band in 1999. The Prom's debut was released on Panther Fact Records a year later, earning them opening acts with major indie pop stars.
