That same year, The Rural Alberta Advantage released their first demo and then released a self-titled EP a year later. Once The Rural Alberta Advantage released their album on a label, their popularity began growing leaps and bounds. Helping their rise to fame was an appearance at the famed South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas in 2009.
