The Silos represented a combination of the two founders' previous groups, The Vulgar Boatmen and The Bobs. Shortly after releasing their second album they were signed to RCA Records and began a career working with a major label. The band has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman and Salas-Humara has received high praise from Jonathan Lethem and Rolling Stone for his songwriting, while Rupe has gone on to record such big name indie acts as Cracker and Sparklehorse.
