The original play based in the Alps of Salzburg first opened in 1959 as the final collaboration between the famous musical
duo Rodgers & Hammerstein. With Theodore Bikel as the first Baron Von Trapp and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse,
the play became one of the best known creations between the two musical geniuses. Following the lives of the Von Trapp family
as they experience the upheaval of their country thanks to World War II, the story has captured the hearts of audiences for
generations.
