The Strokes were one of a number of indie bands to find mainstream success in the early '00s. Their catchy riffs had just enough edge to set them apart from the more mainstream rock sounds. A lot of their appeal came from Julian Casablancas, the lead singer who gives incredibly energetic on-stage performances. The rest of the band includes Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti.
