Oliver and Chris Wood grew up in Boulder, Colorado. Both brothers left the area following high school graduation. Oliver
trekked to Atlanta, while Chris ventured to New York. Chris, a bassist, ended up performing jazz and rock in New York. He
eventually joined John Medeski and Billy Martin to found the jazz-funk musical trio, Medeski, Martin & Wood. Meanwhile, Oliver
stumbled upon his talent for writing songs and formed King Johnson, a blues-based band, which still tours the Southern circuit.
Eventually, the brothers began collaborating at family functions. Their musical talents melded together to take its own unique
shape.
The Wood Brothers performed together publicly for the first time at New York's Tonic venue in 2005. They released the Live
at Tonic EP privately, which was developed from this concert. After signing on to Blue Note Records, the Wood Brothers' debut
album, Ways Not to Lose, hit the streets in 2006. Drummer Kenny Wollesen is included on five tracks of that album. Live, Vol.
1: Sky High debuted in 2012. The brothers took different paths after high school graduation, but they came back together to
create a phenomenal sound. Don't miss the Wood Brothers on tour this year.
