Tim McGraw Background

Tim McGraw is the son of famous baseball player, Frank Edwin "Tug" McGraw Jr., but Tim didn't discover this fact until he was 11 years old. McGraw was raised believing that his stepfather was his biological father, and when Tim turned 18 years old, Tug finally acknowledged paternity. He and Tim became close, and they maintained a strong relationship until Tug's death in 2004. Based on his father's profession, it should come as no surprise that Tim McGraw was a highly athletic child growing up, eventually earning a baseball scholarship to the University of Louisiana at Monroe. McGraw didn't finish college, however, because he realized music was his calling, so he dropped out and moved to Nashville.

In 1990, Tim McGraw piqued the interest of Curb Records, who decided to sign the young country singer after hearing him play live. He released his very first single shortly afterward, yet "What Room Was the Holiday In" failed to chart. Despite the failure of his first single, McGraw kept working and writing new music, and he released a string of singles that received positive reviews such as "Memory Lane", "Welcome to the Club", and "Two-Steppin' Mind". Slowly but surely, Tim McGraw made a name for himself in the country music world, and by 1994, McGraw was a smash success. His second album, Not a Moment Too Soon, sold so well and became such a hit that it was the best-selling country album of the year. The album spawned charting singles like "Don't Take the Girl" and "Down on the Farm", and it solidified McGraw's reputation as one of the hottest up-and-coming artists in country music.

From that moment on, Tim McGraw was an unstoppable force, releasing one major hit after another. With so many massive hits under his belt, there was never any doubt that Tim McGraw was a legend-in-the-making. Throughout his career, McGraw has accumulated an impressive collection of awards, such as countless Billboard Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, CMT Awards, and even a handful of Grammy Awards. Tim McGraw is one of the most awarded and most successful stars in country music, and now you have the chance to see him live in concert! Even though McGraw has also proven that he is a great actor, his best performances are always up on stage when he's singing his best country hits. So don't miss out on seeing Tim McGraw perform live and grab your concert tickets on StubHub as soon as possible!

Greatest Hits

Over the course of his phenomenally successful career, Tim McGraw has released 13 studio albums, three compilation albums, and a whopping 62 singles, 34 of which have reached the number one spot on the music charts. Most of his albums have been certified platinum or multi-platinum in both the US and in Canada, and his Greatest Hits (2000) album has been certified six times platinum. Tim McGraw's name is synonymous with great country music, and he has churned out major hits like "Don't Take the Girl", "I Like It, I Love It", "She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart", "Just To See You Smile", "Where the Green Grass Grows", "Live Like You Were Dying", and "The Cowboy In Me".
