Toby Keith Background

Toby Keith grew up in Oklahoma City, and he was initially inspired to pursue music thanks to his grandmother, who owned a supper club where musicians would play live sets. Keith worked at his grandmother's supper clubs during the summers, and it was during these times that he started to develop his passion for music. Eventually, Keith found his way up onto the bandstand and rocked out with some of the bands, and thus began his career as a performer.

After graduating from college, Toby Keith spent some time working at oil fields, and in his free time he and a few of his friends would perform at local bars as a band. In 1982, Oklahoma's oil industry started to suffer, and Keith lost his job. Now unemployed, he gravitated toward one of his passions: football. After playing football with the Oklahoma City Drillers for a short stint, Keith finally recognized that it was time to pursue his music career. He moved to Nashville in the early 1990s and immediately started busking on street corners and on Music Row. He eventually scored a recording contract with Mercury Records, and shortly afterward he started releasing hit after hit.

His debut single, "Should've Been a Cowboy", scored the number one spot on the Billboard Hot Country songs chart and started to gain him incredible attention from country music fans all over the world. From then on, Toby Keith was a rock star—well, a country music rock star, technically. He released countless charting hits and best-selling albums, and he even started an impressive collection of prestigious awards, such as several American Music Awards, numerous Academy of Country Music awards, and a couple Country Music Association awards. Billboard even honored Toby Keith with a "Country Artist of the Decade" award, solidifying his reputation as one of the best country artists in the history of the genre.

There's no denying the fact that Toby Keith is a superstar, and now you have the unique opportunity to see him perform live! Don't let this phenomenal opportunity slip through your fingers and grab your Toby Keith tickets on StubHub today!
