Tokio Hotel was first started by the then-12 year old twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz in their native town of Magdeburg, Germany, in 2001. The brothers recruited George Listing as their bassist and Gustave Schäfer as their drummer and started out under the name Devilish. After some extensive touring the boys signed their first deal with Universal in 20003 and adopted their new moniker Tokio Hotel.
