Tori Amos was born Myra Ellen Amos in North Carolina but raised in Maryland where she played the piano at age four and started writing her own songs not too long after. Her single "Me and the Gun" got Amos the most attention by telling her story of being sexually assaulted. Her debut album Little Earthquakes was released in 1992 and it sold well.
