The Toronto Raptors in 2013-14

The Toronto Raptors have been playing very well this season, especially since the team traded Rudy Gay to the Sacramento Kings. Gay is a solid player, but he didn't seem to fit with what the Raptors organization is trying to do, and the move paid immediate dividends for Toronto. The Eastern Conference is not very strong this season outside of the top two teams, the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat. The third seed is most definitely up for grabs in the East this season, and the Raptors are looking to get a hold of it. The team has gotten some incredible play out of Kyle Lowry this season, the speedy point guard who really seems to be finding his way in Toronto. Once Gay was moved, there were rumors swirling that Lowry would be the next go leave town, but his play prevented that from happening. Lowry is a tough-nosed defender with solid court vision and scoring ability. He's been a big reason for the Raptors' success in 2013-14.

Another player that has played very well for Toronto is DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan came into the league as a raw prospect and he's developed his game nicely since then. As the Raptor's leading scorer, DeRozan has shown the ability to create his own shot and use his athleticism to make highlight plays. With Lowry and DeRozan in the backcourt, the Raptors offense is difficult to contain, something we've seen many times since the Gay trade. Down low the Raptors are looking to see more out of big man Jonas Valanciunas. The center is young and still developing, but he could be the key to this team making some serious waves in the postseason. It should be a thrilling ride if the Raptors can secure home court advantage in the first round of the payoffs, and you can be there in person.

Toronto Raptors Trivia

Who is the current general manager of the Toronto Raptors?

The answer is Masai Ujiri. Ujiri did a fantastic job in recent years for the Denver Nuggets, putting together a winning team rife with depth. Ujiri has quickly made his presence in the Raptors front office felt, trading away former number one pick Andrea Bargnani and swingman Rudy Gay early into his tenure with the organization. The team is looking to build around their young center Jonas Valanciunas, a talented big man that has shown considerable promise early in his career.

Toronto Raptors Postseason History

The Toronto Raptors have been a part of the National Basketball Association since joining the league as an expansion franchise in 1995. The Raptors have had some good seasons over the years and given their loyal fans a lot to cheer about. Toronto has won the Atlantic Division title one time, in 2007, but been to the postseason a handful of times. The Raptors won their first playoff series during the 2001 postseason when they defeated the New York Knicks in the first round 3-2. That year the team was led by dynamic shooting guard Vince Carter, who has some incredible moments for the Raptors during his tenure north of the border. The Raptors are looking to make some serious noise in the playoffs this season.

Toronto Raptors Fans

The fans of the Toronto Raptors are some of the most dedicated fans you'll ever come across in any sport. The Raptors are the only NBA team in Canada, so they've essentially got an entire country behind them. When the Raptors hit the court at home, they're always greeted with a raucous crowd that wants nothing more than to see a Raptors victory. These fans pack the stands for each home game, and when the playoffs come around the intensity in the stands goes up several notches. This team knows that a good home court advantage can make all the difference in the postseason, so they bring all the noise they can to support their team. See for yourself how passionate this team really is by attending a Raptors playoff contest the next time they make the postseason.
