Hailing from Atlanta, Texas, Tracy Lawrence has been rocking the country music scene for over two decades.
The young Tracy Lawrence showed an interest in music from a young age, but wouldn't make the big break into the mainstream
until later in life, after many years of casual performances and songwriting. His big moment came during his formative years,
when Tracy made the move to music mecca Nashville, Tennessee to try to make it big as a recording artist. Facing various difficulties,
Lawrence worked multiple jobs while trying to find the way to make his big break. He eventually made the acquaintance of Wanda
Collier, who introduced him to key figures within Nashville's music scene, including his future manager Wayne Edwards.
found himself in the eyes of mega label Atlantic Records, and by 1991 had a recording deal lined up that would lead to his
debut full length. His first album would break all expectations as he quickly went certified platinum, exploded all over the
music charts, and was tapped by Billboard as the Top New Male Vocalist of the year. The hype machine built around Tracy that
would continue to be satisfied as he released hit album after hit album. His work would be featured in major motion pictures,
including 1994's Maverick, and he again was awarded a Top New Male Vocalist accolade, this time by the Academy of Country
By the late 90s, Tracy had released five hugely successful albums and was marrying his second wife, a cheerleader
with the Dallas Cowboys. His success continued into the 2000s, officially making Tracy a decade spanning artist and precipitating
his move to Warner Bros. Record. Tracy would bounce around from label to label, producing hits but never finding a place to
settle down and call home. He eventually decided on starting his own label, Rocky Comfort Records, as a haven for like minded
country performers whom Tracy personally tapped for future success. Tracy is now a two track member of the music community,
both as a creator through his constant writing and recording and as a facilitator via his position as CEO of a major label.
Tracy's debut Sticks and Stones dropped in late 1991 and spawned four huge hit singles: "Sticks
and Stones", "Today's Lonely Fool", "Somebody Paints the Wall", and "Runnin' Behind". With a platinum certification and a
strong showing all across the Billboard charts, Sticks and Stones became the flagship album of Tracy's career and was the
starting point for nearly a decade of consistent mega successes.
His much anticipated follow up, Alibis, dropped in
1993 and immediately hit the Billboard Hot 100 with the title track single. This album would go double platinum, and also
featured radio wave favorites "If the Good Die Young", "My Second Home", and "Can't Break It to My Heart". His immediately
follow up, I See It Now, again went double platinum and again topped the charts with singles "As Any Fool Can See" and "I
See It Now". He also garnered another #1 hit with "Texas Tornado", and #2 hit "If the World Had a Front Porch".
bright musical career almost ended as quickly as it started, when he was robbed at gunpoint by three armed men. Tracy bravely
acted out to allow a friend to escape the gunmen, suffering four near fatal gunshots in the process.
