About Tribal Seeds
Composed of an all star lineup, Tribal
Seeds has been rocking the local and international reggae scenes for nearly a decade. Comprised of six like minded individuals,
the Tribal Seeds lineup has grown over the years to include: Steven Rene Jacobo on vocals; Tony-Ray Jacobo on keyboards; Carlos
Verdugo on percussion; Victor Navarro slapping the bass; E.N. Young on vocals and keyboards; and Ryan Gonzo jamming on the
guitar. With spiritual overtones and a decidedly fresh sound, Tribal Seeds has risen to the forefront of the genre and become
ambassadors of the reggae movement worldwide.
The band ostensibly started in 2005, playing local shows and building
a loyal following as they built momentum for their monumental debut that would drop in 2008. The band immediately skyrocketed
into the public eye, receiving back to back iTunes awards for best album and gaining the Best World Music accolade from the
prestigious San Diego Music Awards. The band took on political and social tones as well, encouraging youth activism and critical
thinking into social attitudes, concurrent with greater reggae philosophy that includes a backlash against materialism and
an emphasis on positive vibes and attitude.
Their astronomic rise to the world scene has taken just a few short years,
as the band's widely global following has seen them playing shows far outside the United States, including Guam, Latin America,
and the Caribbean. Over the years they've performed alongside some of the biggest artists in the music industry, including
Bob Marley's former band The Wailers, Pepper, SOJA, Rebelution, MGMT, Matisyahu, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Tribal Seeds success has been a steady build to stardom, a testament to their musical talent, work ethic, and
perseverance. They've stayed decidedly independent as they've self released all of their albums, including four full lengths
and one EP. Their break out hit, Youth Rebellion, would quickly make its way around the music scene as the hits "Youth Rebellion"
and "Rider" both became hallmark pieces of not just Tribal Seeds discography, but greater reggae rock canon.
see The Harvest drop, one hour and two minutes of pure unadulterated jam time. With top notch hits such as "The Garden", "Come
Around", and "Love Psalm", The Harvest would climb the Billboard reggae chart to the #5 position and contain social message
undercurrents about peace, love, and harmony.
The band's most recent release, 2014's Representing, would drop to much
anticipation and deliver marvelously. From the good vibes of title track "Representing", with a guest spot to musician Midnite
to "Blood Clot" featuring Don Carlos, Representing has been another turn for the better for the band as they mature as musicians
while still retaining that unique Tribal Seeds style.
Tribal Seeds was originally the brainchild
of brothers Steven Rene and Tony-Ray Jacobo. The energy and vibe set off from the brother duo attracted the band's other four
members, who all share the Jacobo brothers philosophy and easy going attitudes.
Despite being an independent label,
Tribal Seeds has shown no lack of ability when it comes to lighting up the Billboard charts. Their EPs and full lengths regularly
hit the Top 200 Billboard and usually are top ten in the Reggae charts, despite not having any big label support.
