An icon in not only country music, but the entire realm of music altogether, George Jones loved making music
more than anything, which is likely why he went on to become as successful as he did. Responsible for a plethora of number
one country hit singles such as "White Lightning" in 1959 all the way to "I Always Get Lucky With You" in 1983, his albums
and hits continue to inspire artists all around the world. All his life he was committed to making music and singing, making
it known that it was never about the money, something that showed through in his character throughout his life. In addition
to being incredibly passionate about the music that he created, George would also do his best to help promote any artists
that he felt had the same fire and passion towards the genre that he did. Inspiring artists both in and out of country, everyone
from Frank Sinatra to Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan was mesmerized by George's passion for country music, as he would tirelessly
and effortlessly stick with country and only country for the duration of his career and life. He was on a final tour called
"The Grand Tour", consisting of stops at sixty cities across the country and culminating at the Bridgestone Arena, when he
eventually fell ill on the last leg, unable to make his last few shows. And so it came to be that what was going to be his
final show has transformed into a tribute to the man and the legend that was responsible for the music loved by millions,
with artists from all over coming together to take to the stage in his honor. Some of the artists that will be playing are
George Strait, Reba McEntire, Travis Tritt, Kid Rock, Montgomery Gentry, the Oak Ridge Boys, and many more.
It can be hard to believe that a music legend the likes of George Jones took some time to get the attention and
traction that he needed to make a splash in the music scene, but his first few singles made little impact with audiences.
It wasn't until 1955 with his hit single "Why, Baby, Why" that made it to the number four spot, making it his first single
to make it onto the charts. This was the beginning of an upswing that never really ended for George, rising through the ranks
of fame and popularity and continuing on that way even as he began to have health issues.
Tribute to George Jones
With such a burning passion for country music, it's surprising that he had actually released on album consisting
of rockabilly songs after being convinced to do so after Elvis Presley became a hit. Reluctantly agreeing to do so in order
to make money for his family, but still not putting his heart into it since it wasn't country, George released the album under
the name "Thumper Jones". He later claims that at one point he tried to be up all of the masters so that they wouldn't later
appear on the scene, unsuccessfully in the end.
This is an event that, simply put, can't
be missed. If you're a fan of the legendary work that George Jones gave to the world of music, or even if you simply respect
his work or the genre that he loved, then this is bound to be a show that you'll never forget. Bringing a slew of famous and
incredibly talented artists to the stage for a night of musical tribute for the master and icon of an entire genre, you'll
have plenty of fun and fond memories long after the show is over. So make sure that you bring a friend, family member, neighbor,
or even check it out by yourself, because an event like this may never happen again!
