North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball Schedule
Boasting one of the proudest traditions in college basketball dating
back to 1910, the Tar Heels are ready to battle their way to the top of the heap once again. Having long since established
themselves as one of the elite college basketball powerhouses, UNC is a team that needs no introduction. Year after year,
UNC recruit some of the top high school basketball players in the country, who are always more than capable of giving Tar
Heels fans something to cheer about. It is never an easy task to get through a daunting ACC regular season schedule but somehow
the Tar Heels always appear to be up to the challenge. There is no time like the present to get out of the house and head
out to the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill to see the Tar Heels in person and StubHub is the place to get tickets for all
of their biggest games.
Once again the Tar Heels will face off against some of the best teams in the country during
ACC play including the Virginia Cavaliers, the NC State Wolfpack, and their most bitter rivals the Duke Blue Devils. Of course
the recent addition of the Syracuse Orange, the Pitt Panthers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Louisville Cardinals
to the ACC has only served to make the conference more exciting and competitive. The Tar Heels always feature some of the
most exciting players in the country and this year Roy Williams will be rallying his troops to work hard all season to make
their way to the top of the ACC standings and expunge a disappointing third round NCAA Tournament loss this past march.
North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball History
The history of success and great talent possessed by the Tar Heels
is practically unparalleled in the ranks of college basketball and the program shows no signs of slowing down. Among the school's
countless notable alumni, perhaps none is more revered than Michael Jordan who during his time there made some of the most
memorable plays the sport has ever seen before heading off to unheard of dominance in the NBA. In trying to take on all comers
in the powerful ACC, UNC continues to recruit some of the best players in the country to don the Carolina blue. Imagine that
the Tar Heels are bringing the ball up the court with the clock dwindling late in the fourth quarter, with the crowd hinging
on every possession during an exciting rivalry match up. Many of their biggest games are televised, but nothing compares to
the thrills and chills of being in the stands at Dean Smith Center when the Tar Heels take on some of their biggest rivals.
The Tar Heels are currently third on the all-time NCAA Men's Division I Basketball wins list and will be actively trying to
pile up more wins to make the NCAA Tournament in hopes of winning the whole thing for the sixth time. There is nothing more
exciting in the world of sports than seeing the North Carolina Tar Heels take on the Duke Blue Devils and fortunately for
college hoops fans that takes place at least twice a year, often with ACC titles on the line.
Tar Heels Basketball Conference
College basketball is virtually synonymous with the ACC and it is never easy for a
team to navigate the tough conference schedule. Perennial powerhouses North Carolina and Duke always are staunch competition
and with the recent addition of Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Notre Dame to the mix the conference is only getting
tougher. Altogether the ACC has won 15 National Championships with North Carolina leading the way with five. Schools from
the ACC have reached the Final Four sixty times and are always making a big impact in the Tournament. Playing such a tough
regular season schedule annually leaves the teams from the ACC who are selected for the Tournament ready to take on any college
in the country and allows for even some of the lower seeds to pull off big time upsets. When it comes to college basketball
there is arguably no conference that is historically better or more dominant than the ACC.
basketball is an experience like no other. Featuring some of the best student athletes in the world along with some of the
most passionate fans in all of sports, the games have an atmosphere that is unrivaled. When you set foot into the Dean Smith
Center for a North Carolina Tar Heels home basketball game this will all be clear. As the teams set up for opening tip off
the fans stand up and vociferously cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites. The game continues full of back and
forth action, big time shots, and clutch defensive stops. Before you know it the clock is winding down in the second half
and the two sides are wrapped up in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with each trip down the floor and each
time a player from your favorite team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball tickles the twine. This continues
until the final buzzer when the UNC side erupts after another big win and their fans flow out of the arena in jubilation.
Big things appear to be in store for Carolina and Tar Heels fans can sense the excitement in the air as they pile into Dean
Smith to get in on all of the action.
In addition to the five national championships the Tar Heels
have won at the end of the NCAA Tournament the university was given a retroactive national championship for their undefeated
1924 team by the Helms Athletic Foundation. Despite all of the great NBA players that have come out of UNC, only two have
been drafted number one overall, James Worthy and Brad Daugherty who was infamously drafted number one over fellow Tar Heel
Michael Jordan. The 18 Final Fours reached by the North Carolina Tar Heels are more than any other program.
