United Palace Theater History

Originally known as the Loew's 175th Street Theatre, this is a building that has been around since 1930, though it's gone through man different manifestations over the years. Instead of getting demolished in the late-1960s, when that was the trend, it was saved and converted to being the United Church Service of Living Institute. Following that, it was renovated and renamed in the late-2000s, and since then it has brought together one great musical act after another to the stage and helped built a reputation for being one of the best venues around town. This is a venue that has seen some of the greatest acts in music, including Jackson Browne, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse and more, providing one world-class musician after another. There has never been a better time to head out and get right in the thick of the excitement for an amazing show that you'll be talking about a long time after it's all over.
