MotoGP U.S. Grand Prix Schedule

The United States Grand Prix has been a highlight of the racing season since 1949 and remains one of the most exciting motorcycling racing events in the country. Each year at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas and at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indy, there are major events held that draw in racing fans from all over the world. This is not your average racing event where cars go around and around in a circle, as the twisting track makes the drivers bring a whole different level of skill to the track if they want to have any chance at taking the checkered flag. The four-day event in April known as the Moto Grand Prix of the Americas is one of the central grand prix events in the country, making it the place to be if you're looking for a little heart-pounding excitement. April in Austin is simply beautiful and is a fantastic place to visit, providing plenty of incentive for a little road trip that is sure to make for an experience that you simply won't forget. Obviously the race in Indy has a great backdrop as well, and you simply can't go wrong with heading out to join in the electrifying excitement. Though there are lots of different motorsports events out there, this is one that has been captivating audiences for a very long time, and the intensity only seems to get better from one year to the next.


MotoGP U.S. Grand Prix Event Info

The MotoGP dates back to the late-1940s and has traditionally been based in Europe, but in recent years the fan base has expanded exponentially and now only about half of the season's races are held in Europe while the rest are held on other continents. In the second half of the Twentieth Century the sport really began to become a global sport and each year more and more fans are drawn to the speed and skill of these amazing motorcyclists. Speed is simply the name of the game no matter where the big event goes down, and it won't take long for you to be at the edge of your seat. Though there are races all over the world as part of the MotoGP series, including Argentina, Spain, the U.K. and more, two of the biggest races are always a part of the U.S. circuit. And when you're there watching the big event the way it was meant to be seen, this is a sport that springs to a completely different level.

Although many race fans are content to watch a big-time race at home on their flatscreen, there is really no comparison to actually being in the stands for a major MotoGP race. These drivers can do just about anything on a track and you'll be mesmerized by their level of skill as they whip around the track looking to make their move on the rest of the field. The fans are also a major part of the atmosphere as well, helping to complete the backdrop and give you the perfect experience that you'll be talking about a long time after the final lap. The drivers participating in the U.S. Grand Prix are hands down some of the best race car drivers in the world, and when you witness them zooming by at unbelievable speeds you will see first-hand just how incredible their accomplishments are. Drivers like Mike Hailwood and Mick Doohan have become absolute legends of the sport and brought it to completely new heights, though the current drivers are also loaded with talent and dreams of making their mark on the sport. With 18 circuits in 13 different countries, this is a sport that has been making its rounds of for a while now and has been steadily growing in popularity since its inaugural season in 1949. Put it all together and this is a sport packed with history and excitement, which is a great combination if you're looking for a day of jaw-dropping motorcycle racing that will have you out of your seat in no time.

Did you know that Mick Doohan won 12 out of 15 races during the 1966 season?

In the 500cc class, nobody was better in the mid-1960s than Mick Doohan, who was one of the very best drivers in the history of the sport. Overall in his brilliant career, Doohan would end up winning 54 different races in 137 starts, reaching the podium nearly 70% of the time.
