UNLV Rebels Football Tickets -The Schedule in 2014

The Mountain West Conference is as tough as ever these days and the teams will be extra competitive to leap frog each other in the standings. The UNLV Running Rebels are coming off a season that ended with their first bowl game berth since 2000. Though they lost in the Heart of Dallas Bowl to North Texas, things are definitely looking up for the UNLV football program. After a terrific career in Las Vegas, Senior quarterback Caleb Herring has graduated, leaving the Running Rebels in the hands of a new quarterback. The Rebel's return plenty of talent in 2014 including Junior wide receiver Devante Davis, who led the Running Rebels in 2013 with over 1,200 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. Running Rebel fans better be ready for 2014 because the team is ready for a breakout season.

UNLV faces an incredibly tough task right off the bat when the Northern Illinois Huskies travel all the way to Sam Boyd Stadium on September 13. The Huskies are coming off an incredible season where they won their first 12 games of the season before losing their final two games, the MAC Championship Game and the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Northern Illinois has one of the most powerful running games in the country, finishing just shy of 300 rushing yards per game. Like the Rebels, the Huskies lost their star quarterback to graduation, with Heisman Trophy finalist Jordan Lynch leaving enormous shoes to fill. Lynch rushed for an FBS record 1,881 rushing yards in his senior season to go along with 23 touchdowns. The Huskies do return their running back Cameron Stingily, who rushed for over 1,100 yards and 9 touchdowns. The Rebels are sure to draw a huge crowd for this match up with the Huskies, whose incredible season thrust them into the FBS spotlight.

The Mountain West Champion Fresno State Bulldogs are coming to Sam Boyd Stadium on October 11 to take on the Rebels. UNLV will need to win games against the best in the conference if they want to unseat the champion. The Bulldogs finished the season as the #20 team in the country and was the #1 passing team in the NCAA in 2013. With quarterback Derek Carr graduating, the Bulldogs will be in the same boat as the Running Rebels when new quarterbacks take the field to run their offense in 2014. This is a match up that fans of both teams certainly won't want to miss, so grab your tickets to this exciting match up at Sam Boyd Stadium before they are all gone.

UNLV Rebels Football Rivalries

When it comes to football rivalries in the state of Nevada, there is none stronger than the clash between the UNLV Rebels and the University of Nevada Wolfpack. The rivalry, known as the Fremont Cannon, has been played since 1969, with the winner holding on to the cannon for a year. In 2013, the UNLV Running Rebels took the cannon back to Las Vegas after an 8 year stint in Reno. This rivalry thrills fans throughout the state and UNLV is proving that this is no longer a one sided competition. This rivalry has heated up since 2012 when the Wolfpack joined the Mountain West Conference and this in-state rivalry became a conference game, upping the ante for this already heated rivalry.

UNLV Running Rebels NFL Players

For being a small school in a small state, the UNLV Rebels has long list of notable players who have left Las Vegas and gone on to great success in the NFL. Maybe the most famous of them all is former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Randall Cunningham. Cunningham led the Rebels to the school's only 10 win season in 1984 during his senior season. He was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the NFL Draft in 1985, going on to a very successful career that included 4 trips to the Pro Bowl, the Bert Bell NFL MVP Award, Miller Lite NFL Player of the Year Award, Pro Bowl MVP and NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Randall Cunningham is the only UNLV player to have his jersey number retired by the university. Cunningham's exciting play made him a must watch player who revolutionized the quarterback position in the NFL by being as talented running with the football as throwing it. His play has paved the way for future quarterbacks like Michael Vick, Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson. Other famous Rebels who played in the NFL include Cincinnati Bengal running back Ickey Woods, creator of the famous "Ickey Shuffle", Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight and ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne.
