Southern California - UCLA

Southern California - UCLA

Southern California - UCLA History

The rivalry between USC and UCLA is one of the most intense in all of college sports. Not only do the two schools share the city of Los Angeles but they are also two of the most successful collegiate athletics programs of all time. In fact UCLA has the most Division I team championships at 110 and USC has the third most with 99. From the fans to the players the passion on both sides is palpable no matter which sport the two universities are facing off in. The two schools compete against one another in 18 Division I sports and victories in each sport earns a certain amount of points towards the Gauntlet which is awarded to the winner at the end of each year. Two of the highest scoring competitions in the Gauntlet are basketball and football which are also the two most popular sports and the ones that incite the most passion among players and fans. Attending a Division I match up between USC and UCLA is a thrill no matter what the sport so be sure to check out the schedule on StubHub to see when the two long time rivals will be battling it out against one another.

Southern California - UCLA Schedule

Each year when USC and UCLA face off against one another it is one of the biggest and most important games not only in the PAC 12 but in all of college football. Many times this game could decide whether or not one of the schools will have the chance to compete for a national championship. These are big time games regardless of how each team is doing during the season, and overall records are usually meaningless when UCLA and USC are playing as bragging rights and school pride bring the level of competition to a whole new level. This year the game between the Trojans and the Bruins will be held in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, November 22nd. As one of the biggest games in all of college football the USC and UCLA game sells out quickly so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible. The game will be televised but there is no comparison to actually being there in a divided stadium filled with passionate students and fans.

The Experience

There is no atmosphere quite like that of a college football stadium on game day. Tens of thousands of students, alumni and members of the community come out to support their team, decked out in school colors. Game day really starts early in the morning with face paint, signs and, of course, tailgating. Any sports fan would love to experience this special atmosphere, so get tickets to see the USC Trojans match up against the UCLA Bruins. Games between these two crosstown rivals are among the most thrilling spectacles in all of sports and watching these contests on television can be great but it really pales in comparison to being in the stands for one of these games and feeling the electricity in the air. Held in the historic Rose Bowl, the stadium fills up evenly with USC and UCLA fans who compete against one another all day to be the loudest fans in the Rose Bowl and to help lead their side to a big win.

Southern California - UCLA Athletic Conference

Both USC and UCLA compete in the PAC 12, one of the best college athletic conferences in the country. The PAC 12 is especially known for its college football which has seen teams like USC, UCLA, and Oregon dominate at the national level, as well as its college basketball which boasts the unrivaled history of the UCLA Bruins as well as several other programs capable of making noise in March. The PAC 12 is also known as the Conference of Champions because it has won more national championships than any other conference. In fact the top three universities in terms of national title wins, UCLA, Stanford, and USC, are all found in the PAC 12. the members of the conference include Arizona, Arizona State, Cal - Berkeley, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Stanford, USC, Washington, Utah, and Washington State. When it comes to college athletics there is no better conference than the PAC 12.

Trivia

The two schools have different names for the week leading up to the football game between USC and UCLA. At UCLA the week is referred to as Beat USC Week, while at USC it is alternately known as Conquest and Troy Week. For several years both schools played their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum but after UCLA moved to the Rose Bowl in 1982 the football game between the two schools has alternated between the two venues. USC leads the football rivalry with a 46-30-7 record, although the 2004 and 2005 wins were vacated due to NCAA sanctions.
