Valhalla Golf Club History
Located east of Louisville, Kentucky, the Valhalla Golf Club was designed by legendary
golfer Jack Nicklaus opened in 1986, and it didn't take long for it to become a bit of a staple of the local entertainment
scene. Prestigious Louisville business leader and avid golfer Dwight Gahm always hoped to build a world-class course able
to accommodate a major golf championship, leading to the eventual creation of Valhalla. The course is additionally the fruition
of a ground-breaking partnership, bringing championship golf to Louisville regularly, which culminated into the PGA of America's
first owned championship site. From there, it was one great golfing event after another, setting the tone high thanks to a
steam of some of the best golfers in the world coming to town.
Six years after its opening, the Valhalla Golf Club was
designated as the site for the 1996 PGA Championship, one of the most celebrated tournaments in the world. Other events that
have been held here includes the Ryder Cup, the Senior PGA Championship and plenty of others, providing a little bit of something
