Van Andel Arena History
Van Andel Arena is a multi purpose arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan that opened in 1996
and is home to the Grand Rapids Griffins, and AHL team affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings. There is much more going on
at Over the years since it opened, Van Andel Arena has made a name for itself among area locals as well as visitors to the

Van Andel Arena has been featured in concert films and music videos
including Motey Crue's live Carnival of Sins DVD and System of a Down's video for Hypnotize. In 2008 12,000 people attended
a political rally at the arena for Barack Obama in which John Edwards gave his endorsement to the future President.
