Van Halen first formed in Pasadena, California in 1972. They are an American rock band that has released eleven studio albums, two compilation albums and one live album. They have also earned the Guinness Book of World Records title for the most number one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 12, 2007.
The band is perhaps most well known, not only for its songs, but also for the drama and controversy surrounding the lead singer spot. There have been many fallings out with former singers.
