The SkyDome is a multi-purpose facility that provides arenas for football, basketball, indoor track and field, weight lifting, lacrosse, major concerts, commencements and other university and community activities in Arizona. The SkyDome was named for former University President Dr. J Lawrence Walkup and is the second largest clear-span timber dome in the world. It was built in September 1977.
The SkyDome is open for individuals only and is an office building. Not pets, skateboards, roller blades, bikes are permitted into the arena. The SkyDome is the NAU center for the Athletics Departments, Administrative Offices, Sports Information, NAU Trademark Licensing and Fields and Facilities.
