The Akron Civic Theatre was built, originally, in 1929. It underwent a huge reconstruction and renovation project in 2001, which cost more than $19 million to complete, and now it looks better than ever. The original theatre was built by Marcus Loew and designed by John Eberson, with Mediterranean décor inside.
The box office is located in the Arcade accessed from Main Street and is open Monday through Friday, 11am to 5:30pm, with summer hours Monday through Friday 11am to 4pm beginning May through September; closed July 13 to August 8. Cameras, video and audio recording devices are not permitted inside the venue. The Akron is a smoke-free facility. Outside food and beverage are not permitted inside. The venue is wheelchair accessible. The Civic Theatre is also available for rent.
