The sister theatre of the Majestic Theatre (home to the San Antonio Symphony,) the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre is host to a wide range of entertainment acts. The theatre originally opened in 1913 and was renovated in 1998. Since then, several big name performers such as Shawn Colvin, David Crosby, Don McLean and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band have all been featured at the Empire Theatre, adding to its already-successful demeanor. The theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places list in 1999.
The Charline McCombs Empire Theatre is a performing arts center with a rich history dating back to 1879, having been used for vaudeville, silent and motion picture, concerts and live theatre shows. The box office is open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with various hours on Saturdays. Will call tickets can be picked up two hours prior to events. Wheelchair accessible seating is available. All major credit cards are accepted.
