In April 2002, the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club played their first game in their new ballpark, Fifth Third Field. The state-of-the-art 8,943 seat facility in the heart of downtown replaced Ned Skeldon Stadium, the home of the Hens since 1965. It was named #28;Best Ballpark in Minor League Baseball#29; by Newsweek in 2002.
Ticket hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 2pm; hours are extended on game days. Gates typically open one hour prior to start of game; on weekends gates occasionally open 90 minutes prior to game time. No outside beverages or food may enter the stadium. Handheld cameras and video camcorders are permitted inside the venue, so long as they don#25;t interfere with the game. Re-entry is not permitted. The venue is smoke-free. Wheelchair seating is available on both the main concourse and suite levels.
