The Gainesville Raceway first opened in 1969 and held its first Gatornationals event in 1970. It was long considered one of the fastest tracks in the NHRA circuit. Recently the raceway underwent some significant renovations to enhance specific areas of the raceway. The track was re-paved and a new television compound was constructed for the ESPN crew on the north side of the drag strip.
There is accessible seating available for all disabled patrons at the Gainesville Raceway. Items that are not allowed inside the raceway include: alcohol, glass and umbrellas. Pets and coolers are allowed inside the raceway, but all pets must be restricted on a leash. Policies on children#25;s attendance varies from event to event.
