As the home of the Loyola University men’s and women’s basketball teams, the Joseph J. Gentile Center replaced the “Big Brown Box that Rocks,” Alumni Gym, upon its completion in 1995. The venue was funded by Loyola graduate Joseph Gentile, and the center was home to the 1999 Midwestern Collegiate Conference Tournament for NCAA women’s volleyball.
The Joseph. J. Gentile Center came to in 1995 as the home of the Loyola Ramblers men’s and women’s basketball programs. The 45,000-square-foot multi-purpose facility houses 5,200 guests and is also home to the Robert Morris and Kendall College basketball teams and several high school tournaments throughout the year, as well as a venue for concerts, job fairs and other special events.
