The Herbst Theatre is located in the Veterans Building and is a 916-seat, proscenium stage theater that now hosts various events including classical music performances, recitals, drama presentations, dance, opera, lectures and films. The venue is wheelchair accessible and has wheelchair accessible seating available in the orchestra and dress circle levels of the auditorium. The seating plan at Herbst Theatre includes box, dress circle and balcony seating, also clearing space for the orchestra pit.
The Herbst Theatre is situated San Francisco’s Civic Center Historic District in the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, located at 401 Van Ness Street. The theatre once served as the Veterans Auditorium but was remodeled and renamed Herbst Theatre in 1977. The box office opens an hour and a half prior to performances, and doors to the theatre lobby and auditorium open one hour prior to performances.
