The Hofheinz Pavilion is named after Judge Roy Hofheinz, an alumnus of the school and prominent Houstonian known for his philanthropy. The Hofheinz Pavilion was also the first home of the Houston
Rockets before the opening of The Summit in 1975. The Hof has been renovated several times and has hosted a number of high-profile musical concerts, including the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones.
Guy V. Lewis Court at Hofheinz Pavilion, known better as Hofheinz Pavilion and colloquially as just #28;the Hof,#29; is the athletic arena of the University of Houston. With 8,500 seats, it's a major draw to the men's and women's games (both teams are known as the Cougars). The Hofheinz Pavilion opened in 1969 and has been loved by the community ever since.
