Though it has undergone significant changes over the past several years, Huskie Stadium has been a crucial part of Northern Illinois University’s athletics program since it opened in 1965. In 2003, the stadium was renamed as Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium to pay tribute to Robert J. Brigham, an NIU student-athlete, assistant coach, head coach, director of athletics and special assistant to the president.
The home of the Northern Illinois University Huskies, the Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium is the home of NIU’s collegiate football team. The stadium seats 30,076 guests, and renovations have made several times to accommodate the growing number of patrons. The venue is a multi-purpose center, and is home to the NIU football team at home games every Sunday during football season, also providing practices areas for the school’s wrestling and gymnastics programs. Wheelchair seating is available, and the box office will open three and a half hours before events. Concessions are available inside the stadium.
