From the East:
Take I-80 West. Get off at Exit 141, and travel south on Hwy. 65. Get off at Exit 79 and head west. It's about 3 miles to the fairgrounds.
From the North:
Take I-35 South. Get on I-235. Get off at Exit 10A, and head east on University Ave. for 4 miles.
From the West:
Use I-235. Get off at Exit 10A, and head east on University Ave. for 4 miles.
From the South:
Take I-35 North. Get on I-235. Get off at Exit 10A, and head east on University Ave. for 4 miles.
Parking costs $10.00 USD.
Park and ride locations offer free parking and a free shuttle.
You can find ATMs throughout the grounds. (There are about 30.) Look outside the Des Moines Register Service Cetner, on the northeast side of the Varied Industries Building, and inside the Grandstand entrance.
Fair tickets and grandstand admission are sold seperately.
Outside food and beverages aren't allowed.
Coolers and large bags aren't allowed.
Cameras and video recorders aren't allowed.
Kids 2 years old and younger can sit on parents' laps for free.
There are plenty of food and drink concessions on the premises.
There is accessible seating and companion seating, as well as accessible parking.

Visit the fair from 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. Central time daily. Fair buildings are open from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Central daily.

There are a few things that need to be left at home:
There's no re-entry.
Smoking is allowed in some walkway areas of the fairgrounds, unless there are no-smoking signs.
Box office hours vary daily.
On the day of show, starting at 9:00 a.m. Central time, you can pick up will call tickets at the grandstand ticket booth or the Administration Building ticket office. Bring the credit card used for purchase, picture ID, and confirmation number.
