The Izod Center opened in 1981 and has attracted more than 54 million people and 5,000 events through its doors since the venue#25;s completion. Events such as Disney on Ice, Harlem Globetrotters, Sesame Street Live, WWE, Champions on Ice and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey have all taken place at the Izod Center, and performers such as Billy Joel, Elton John, Madonna, U2, Eric Clapton, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears and Eminem have also all shared the stage at this state-of-the-art arena.
Formerly known as the Continental Airlines Arena, the Izod Center is the part of the Meadowlands Sports Complex and home of the New Jersey Nets and several other events during the course of the year. The Izod Center Box office is open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and also on event days. Smoking is permitted only on the spirals and ground-level plazas and at gates of the arena, and prohibited items inside the gates of the arena include large bags or backpacks, balloons, umbrellas, video cameras, noisemakers, balloons and coolers.
